Housing group bring festive cheer to local foodbanks

Incommunities Group foodbank donation

Kind hearted staff at Incommunities have pulled out all the stops to make its biggest donation ever to two Bradford foodbanks.

Bradford Central Foodbank and Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank will share over 1200 food and toiletry items which will go into making up food parcels for people in hardship.

Collections took place across Incommunities’ local bases.

Geraldine Howley, Incommunities Group Chief Executive, said: "I would like to thank everyone who has given so generously to help local familieson need and vulnerable individuals.

"Staff across the group have been making donations throughout the year and made a special effort to donate lots more items in the run up to Christmas.

"We have also given items to the Wyke Foodbank after they were recently targeted by cruel thieves."

Josie Barlow, Manager of Bradford Central Foodbank said: "No one in Bradford should need a food bank but the reality is we have growing numbers of local people who depend on them as a lifeline.

"Last month we provided food for over 450 people.

"A big thank to Incommunities for their help in 2018. Your contribution will make a big difference."

Ken Leach from Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank said: "Everyone at the foodbank is so appreciative of the fantastic donations made by Incommunities staff.

"With demand at the highest we’ve seen in 14 years we rely on the support of businesses, communities and the public to help fill the 1,000plus food parcels we distribute every month.

"Incommunities contribution will be a big help at a time when the demand is at its highest."

In addition to giving the food items, Incommunities has supported the local Cares at Christmas campaign with donations of warm clothing and toiletries for older residents in South Bradford.
