Incommunities Colleagues Raise Over £4,000 for Local Charities
Colleagues from Incommunities have successfully completed the gruelling Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, raising more than £4,000 for three vital Bradford charities, Homeless Not Hopeless, Popi, and Andy’s Man Club.
This remarkable achievement highlights the dedication and community spirit of the 20 colleagues, who pushed themselves out of their comfort zones to support these worthy causes.
The idea for the challenge was born from Incommunities' ongoing commitment to local communities. As a proud Yorkshire organisation, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge was the perfect fit.
Neighbourhood Housing Officer, Leah Davidson highlighted the team spirit of the day: "Being a part of a team that wants to challenge themselves to raise money for some amazing charities has been a great bonding experience. I can only imagine the good this money will provide to our community. The walk was really difficult, but it was all for a good cause, which is the main thing!"
Choosing the charities that would benefit from the challenge was also a team effort, as colleagues from across the organisation were asked to vote for the charities that would receive the sponsorship money. Homeless Not Hopeless, Popi, and Andy’s Man Club emerged as the top three choices.
Mark Beach, Director of Customer Experience said: "I feel really proud that we have raised a large amount of money for local charities that will hopefully benefit our customers. It was great to spend the day getting to know colleagues in a beautiful part of Yorkshire.
“Lots of colleagues that took part hadn’t done anything like this before, so it was great to be able to support each other. I can definitely see why it is called the 3 Peaks 'Challenge'! It definitely pushed us all hard!"
Tim Cockroft, Property Inspector reflected on the journey: "An incredible experience and achievement both mentally and physically. The team supported each other every step of the way; it was a joy to be a part of."
Sue Ellis, Complaints Officer noted the challenge's difficulty: "I’ve never done anything like this before. It was really challenging, but thinking about the money we had raised for our three chosen charities kept me going during the tough parts of the walk."
Rosie Egan, Customer Engagement and Insight Officer appreciated the camaraderie and motivation: "Completing the challenge was really enjoyable at times—getting to know colleagues, being in the lovely Yorkshire Dales, and having a real sense of achievement afterwards. It was also physically and mentally challenging, but we all kept each other going. Knowing we were raising money for three amazing charities was a huge motivator. Working in social housing, we know how much people are struggling in the current climate. This thought kept us going."
The funds raised from this challenge will provide much-needed support to Homeless Not Hopeless, A small but dedicated team of volunteers, providing practical support to homeless people and those in need in the Bradford area. Popi, which is a baby bank based in Keighley, they provide items for babies and children up to 5 such as cots, prams, clothes and toys, free of charge to local families in need. And Andy’s Man Club, a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups.
As the team raised substantially more than their initial £1,000 target, they also decided to donate some of the money they raised to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Friends of the Dales, a charity that promotes the conservation, biodiversity and cultural heritage of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. These felt like extremely fitting donations to extremely deserving charities.
