Connecting our Board with colleagues and customers

In October, our Board and Customer Experience Committee members had their away day at Café West in Allerton. It wasn’t just a meeting; it was a chance for Board members to see and experience our community spaces and hear directly from colleagues and customers.

Board members joined our housing officers on site visits, seeing their day-to-day work and meeting customers face-to-face. They also spoke with colleagues like David, one of our glaziers, who shared pride in his work (and his new van!). Customer Experience Committee Chair and Board member, Kanika Selvan, was excited to team up with Pam, our Involvement Officer to see our customer voice team in action.

Part of the day was focused on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), with some of our Customer Committee members attending and sharing their reflections following the recent racist riots. The Board expressed their firm commitment to EDI for both colleagues and customers. Kanika Selvan led the session, supported by our EDI Lead - Marianne Cuthbertson.

The day ended with a round-table session (a friendly meeting where everyone sits together to share ideas and discuss ways to work better as a team) with Bradford Council, where our Board discussed how we can work better together for our customers. The day showed our Board’s commitment to EDI and a shared goal to make a real difference in our neighbourhoods.
