Housing group launches free learning courses
Do you want to brush up on your English and Maths skills?
Incommunities is rolling out a new round of free weekly courses for its tenants and residents across Bradford.
These are open to anyone aged 16 and over. They include the option of taking Level 1 and 2 in English or Maths.
Nicki Woods from the housing group’s Community Resilience Team runs the courses and said: "The training is very flexible and tailored to meet the learner’s needs.
"You can choose to follow an accredited training pathway or come along and learn at your own pace."
Over 120 people have attended past courses. They include those wanting to gain a qualification that can help them get a job or go to college to people who want to build their confidence and get to grips with dealing with everyday tasks such as working out their budgets.
Tracey Dean from Ravenscliffe said: "The classes are friendly and Nicki is always ready to give me support if I’m stuck with anything.
"The classes have really helped boost my confidence and now that I have a level 2 qualification I feel in a stronger position to apply for jobs in the future."
Anna Fryer, Director of Incommunities – Neighbourhoods, said: "These Maths and English courses run by Nicki are able to equip people with the skills to find work, access training and improve their lives.
"It is another example of how Incommunities is much more than just a landlord and is making a positive difference in other ways in our communities."
