Jordan in top plastering award

A young construction apprentice with Incommunities is celebrating scooping his second top prize of 2017!

Twenty-year old Jordan Kitching from Eccleshill last week won the Regional SkillBuild competition for plastering and dry walling systems held at Leeds College of Building.

Jordan was one of a short list of five young plasterers who were put to the test in the competition.

The third-year apprentice now goes forward to the national finals in Birmingham later this year.

His success follows hot on the heels of Jordan winning Incommunities’ Apprentice of the Year Award in April.

Jordan said: "I’m thrilled to win the competition and go forward to the national finals.

"We were tested in our plastering skills and also our metal stud work which I’d not tried before. It was great to come out top. I didn’t think I had a chance!"

Tony Thompson, Incommunities’ Construction Skills Training Manager, said: "We are all very proud of Jordan’s achievements.

"He sets a very high standard for himself and is always looking to develop.

"It’s fingers crossed now for Jordan in the national finals."
