New playground in Strensall Green opens in time for half-term
Residents of Strensall Green and surrounding areas now have a new playground to enjoy.
Following the removal of the old playground equipment in July, which was deemed unsafe, the new playground was recently completed.
Dan Clegg, Head of Estate Services at Incommunities, which owns and manages the playground, said: “This playground area has always been well-used by the local community. The previous play equipment was over 20 years old and unsafe, so it’s great that we have been able to replace it with modern, fit-for-purpose equipment that families can enjoy for many years to come.”
Local Councillor Angela Tait, who visited to see the new equipment, said: “It’s wonderful to see the newly installed play area in Strensall Green within the heart of Buttershaw. I’m sure it will be well-utilised by many children and families in the local community.”
The playground is divided into age-appropriate areas for infants and juniors and features many familiar playground essentials, including slides, swings, and a seesaw, plus less familiar equipment such as a chain walk trail, role-play activity panels, and spring rockers.
The playground has been designed to stimulate children's minds and bodies, offering varied activities that cater to different interests and abilities.
Andy Walsh, CEO of the nearby Sandale Trust Community Centre, said: “It’s great for the local community, and it will be very well-used.”
